This is part of the wider Northern Quarter walking and cycling improvement scheme, which aims to make the Northern Quarter even more attractive and pleasant to use for pedestrians and cyclists. The area for improvement also includes Thomas Street, Ducie Street and Dale Street and Stevenson Square.
Around 600 people took part the first consultation about this took place in late 2019 and early 2020. We now have revised plans for the Withy Grove area.
The benefits of the improvements will be:
- Better features for cyclists
- Rationalisation of highway space for all users
- Smoother-flowing traffic
- Improved footways and surfaces
- Cycle signals
- Junction improvements
