Turning 21

The Personal Adviser that supports you from 16 to 20 years will chat with you about whether you need to be supported after you turn 21.

If you do want a Personal Adviser to support you after you turn 21, your Pathway Plan will be reviewed and updated. You’ll then be allocated a Personal Adviser from the 21+ team. Your old PA and new PA will meet to do a ‘handover’ and they will both visit you at the same time for a meeting.

Support will continue for as long as you want up until the age of 25.

A ‘virtual personal adviser’ will be allocated to young people aged 21 to 25 who don’t need ongoing support.

We know things can change, if you decide you do want a Personal Adviser again, even if you said you didn’t in the past, you can contact the Leaving Care Service and we will support you again up until the age of 25.
