Pay your council tax by Direct Debit or card
Before you start
You'll need your council tax reference number. You can find this on your bill, or find your council tax reference number online.
If you've had a council tax bill from us before, get a copy of your bill. But if you've just moved in, here's what to do:
Moved to a new home?
- Check if we're your council on gov.uk - enter your postcode.
- Tell us your new address first. We'll send your first bill within six weeks.
Pay by Direct Debit - the easiest way
Set up once and we do the rest. Payments go out automatically. You can split your bill across the year.
Important:
- Only use this button to set up a Direct Debit for yourself. There is a different process if you need to pay for someone else or pay for a business.
- Your bank needs 14 days to set this up.
- The earlier you start (from April), the more months you can split your payments across.
Change your Direct Debit details
Need to change your payment date or bank details?
- Click 'Set up Direct Debit', just like if you were setting it up for the first time.
- Fill in your new details.
- We'll update your payments.
Pay by card
Pay with debit or credit card. Keep track of your payments, so you remember when to pay.
