Parking in cycle lanes

Parking in cycle lanes is inconsiderate and dangerous. Cars, vans or motorcycles illegally parked on mandatory cycle lanes can force cyclists to deviate from their path and put them at risk of conflict with passing vehicles.

With new bicycle facilities being created all over our city, it is now more important than ever to know where and when you can park.

To improve safety for cyclists, the Local authorities in England have powers to issue penalty charge notices to drivers who park or load illegally in cycle lanes, putting cyclists at risk of a serious accident.

It is your responsibility as a driver to check signage on streetlights or poles, and lines on the road to find out exactly what the traffic regulation restrictions are and the hours of operation affecting the cycle lane.

Please be considerate of other road users, the cycle lane is not a parking bay.
