COVID-19 COVID-19 Testing

Testing for those without symptoms

Testing for people with COVID-19 symptoms

From 1 April 2022, the Government will no longer provide free universal symptomatic (PCR) and asymptomatic (LFD) testing for the general public in England. Read the Covid update the government has issued about these changes

However, the most vulnerable people will continue to receive free lateral flow test kits if they are symptomatic and for other people, they will be available to buy LFD kits at chemists and supermarkets.

You can find out more information about these changes on the NHS website

Rapid lateral flow tests (LFD)

Rapid lateral flow tests are a test for coronavirus (COVID-19) that gives a quick result. You usually do this test if you do not have symptoms of COVID-19 or if you are going to be visiting someone who is at higher risk of catching Covid-19.

For help or advice with Covid testing call the Manchester Covid helpline for free on 0800 840 3858 or text: 07890 036 892. Open 7 days a week 9am-5pm.

The service is for anyone with Covid-19 questions, who needs help with booking vaccination or testing appointments or has questions on when to self-isolate. Advice is provided by a nursing team. Translation service available.
