Planning and regeneration North Manchester strategy

What is the strategy?

A plan to improve health and homes in North Manchester. The area has some of the poorest health in the country. Many people may experience fewer chances to get ahead.

This strategy is a long-term plan to change that. Over the next 15 to 20 years, around £6 billion will be invested in. There are three big projects in this plan:

North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH)

The NMGH site will deliver a new hospital and sustainable health campus, including:

  • A new acute hospital and community-based health and wellbeing services. Embracing integration, innovation and technology.
  • Training and job opportunities for staff and the local people.
  • A new residential community to help people stay well at home.
  • Business space focusing on healthy ageing, research and development.
  • Outdoor space for walking and connections to the local neighbourhood.
