Births, marriages, deaths and nationality The inquest system

Obtaining a death certificate

When the inquest has concluded, you will be able to get the final death certificate.

The court staff register the death for you using the information from the inquest hearing.  You do not have to go to the Register Office to register the death.

Please wait 10 days after the conclusion of the inquest to allow time for it to be entered in the register.  You will then be able to order death certificates from the Register Office.
