White Ribbon Day Events

Manchester City Council is to mark White Ribbon Day as part of its ongoing commitment to prevent violence against women and girls.  Established more than 30 years ago, the message of White Ribbon Day is as important as ever in today’s society.

In the face of violence which women and girls experience the Council is using its position to advocate for their safety and to give a platform to initiatives that will foster positive change.  On November 25 Council staff, as well as Deputy Leader Cllr Luthfur Rahman, will be running a stall in the Christmas Markets handing out White Ribbons to members of the public, as well as encouraging them to promote the pledge against women’s violence.

Work will also be taking place across the city, including white-flowering bulbs being planted in the shape of a ribbon in Platt Fields Park, Boggard Hole Clough and Wythenshawe Park.
