Accessibility at Manchester Day
We want Manchester Day to be welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. Here's some information to help you plan your visit.
Toilets
Public toilets are available at:
- Manchester Arndale
- Marks & Spencer
- McDonald's
- Manchester Central Library
- Lloyd Street
Water refill stations
We encourage visitors to bring a reusable water bottle.
You can refill your bottle for free at more than 70 refill points across the city centre. Download the ReFill app to find your nearest water refill station.
Manchester Day Parade
This year's parade route is longer than in previous years, offering more space for wheelchair users and others who may need extra room to enjoy the event.
If you prefer a quieter place to watch the parade, we recommend Peter Street or Princess Street.
An accessible viewing area will be available on Deansgate, outside Manahatta, near the junction with Peter Street.
Manchester Day celebrates the diversity of our communities. The parade includes participants and community groups with a range of access needs. If your community group would like to take part in future Manchester Day parades, please contact info@walktheplank.co.uk.
Performance programme
We aim to make the performance programme as inclusive as possible.
Many performances do not rely on spoken language, making them accessible to a wide range of audiences. These include Zum-Zum Teatre's Hippos.
Stewards and stage managers will be on hand throughout the day and will look out for people who may need additional space, including wheelchair users. Where possible, they will help create space so everyone can enjoy the performances comfortably.
If you need assistance during Manchester Day, please speak to one of our stewards (wearing blue Manchester Day t-shirts!), who will be happy to help.
