Manchester City Council stands in solidarity with our Jewish community following the horrific antisemitic attack at Heaton Park Synagogue.

We are shocked and deeply saddened by this act of hate in our city. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and everyone in the Jewish community affected by this appalling act of violence.

We know that many in our communities may understandably be feeling anxious and scared. Manchester is a proud, diverse, and inclusive city. An attack on one community is felt by us all. In this moment of grief, we reaffirm our commitment to each other - to stand together as one strong, resilient and inclusive city.

Now more than ever, we must stand united. We urge all residents to show solidarity, compassion, and resilience in the face of hatred. Together, we will continue to build a city founded on respect, peace, and mutual understanding.

We are working closely with Greater Manchester Police and community leaders to ensure the safety of all our residents and to make sure that Manchester remains a place where everyone can live without fear. Increased support and reassurance patrols are being provided where needed, and we encourage anyone with concerns or information to come forward.

This is a time for all of us - of all backgrounds, faiths and communities - to stand together in defiance of hate and violence. We come together as one city to honour those affected, to support our Jewish neighbours, and to show that Manchester will always stand united in the face of division.
