Summary
To operate private hire vehicles in Manchester, you must hold a private hire operator licence.
A standard licence is granted to operators of standard private hire vehicles only. A standard saloon type private hire vehicle should be less than 7 years old when licensed, white or silver in colour and carry a maximum of 8 passengers.
The vehicle should display yellow Council issued stickers. Please refer to the operator conditions.

Attachments required
A statutory declaration for each applicant, a basic disclosure (if a limited company a these are needed for each director and company secretary); a recent colour passport photograph (no sunglasses or hat) with your full name and date of birth on the reverse (for each person on the application); If a partnership or limited company full details of all key persons must be provided; A copy of planning permission for the base address; fare tariff; passport (these will need to be scanned in person as well at an appointment to be arranged once we have received everything we need); a right to work share code if you do not have a UK passport; National insurance number on an official document for each applicant; a tax check code for each applicant.
Processing and timescales
We aim to process your application within 10 working days of receiving the application and all supporting documentation.
