Trade Union Facility Time

  1. Title

    Trade Union Facility Time

  2. Abstract

Trade Union Facilities Arrangements for staff covered by the National Joint Council for Local Government Services

  3. Description

    This dataset includes:

    • Total number (absolute number and full time equivalent) of staff who are union representatives (including general, learning and health and safety representatives).
    • Total number of union representatives who devote at least 50% of their time to union duties.
    • Names of all trade unions represented.
    • Basic estimate of spending on unions as a percentage of the total pay bill.

As outlined in the Department for Communities and Local Government Transparency Code 2015.

The data on percentage of the total pay bill has been derived by calculating the number of full time representatives (2018/19) multiplied by the average salary* (£23,866) divided by the total pay bill (£228,817,671) and then multiplied by 100 to provide a percentage figure to two decimal places.
