History
Swinton Grove Park originally formed the grounds of 84 Plymouth Grove, where Elizabeth Gaskell, the celebrated author lived with her family in 1850. Emmeline Pankhurst, a key leader in the suffragette movement, lived on nearby Nelson Street with her family from 1878 until after the turn of the century. The grounds acquired by the City Council were known as Plymouth Grove Green and renamed Swinton Grove Park following regeneration in 2003.Report a problem
