Ward-specific objectives
Place and Infrastructure
- Oversee the creation of a new shared community garden in Higher Blackley. The garden will be in place by April 2027 and will be open for local people to use and enjoy.
- Work with Mirfield Gardens to run two community planting days. These will support Higher Blackley in Bloom and will be delivered by the end of 2026.
Green and Circular Economy
- Run a “Dr Bike” repair session at two of the community planting days. This will help people fix their bikes and encourage active travel. This will be completed by the end of 2026.
- Deliver three community recycling days that focus on better waste management. These days will be supported by Biffa’s engagement team. We will also provide community skips to help residents recycle and dispose of waste correctly.
- Deliver a cooking course at the Higher Blackley Community Hub. The course will teach residents about healthy eating and ways to save energy at home. This will be completed by April 2027.
