Moss Side

  1. Ward-specific objectives

    Place and Infrastructure

    • We will run a ward‑wide street tree planting programme. Our goal is to plant at least 30 new street trees by April 2027.  We will work with residents and partners to choose the right places.
    • We will deliver the alleygating programme on Hartington Street. We will support residents and local groups to green their alleyways. This may include planting, planters, and other nature features.
    • Support resident-led planting and greening projects. Focus on Moss Side Rec Park. We will help with funding, project planning and linking with partners such as Moss Care St Vincent Housing.

    Green and Circular Economy

    • We will encourage residents to grow their own food. Over the year, we aim to fund at least one food growing project. This could include raised beds, tools, or training.
    • Over the year support at least two circular economy projects in the ward. We will focus on working with Recycle Bees at Clarmont Primary and Divine Mercy RC Primary. These projects will help reduce waste and reuse materials.
    • Support resident-led Great British Spring Clean events. Aim to host at least three events over the GBSC campaign. These events will help people learn about nature and climate action.

    People and Communities

    • We will deliver the Make a Metre Matter project. This is a partnership with University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and J Parkers. The project measures how small planting areas help nature. Over the year, we will set up Quinney Crescent as a monitoring site and plant a wildflower meadow for biodiversity study.
    • We will engage residents through the Pride in Place programme. We will make sure local views on climate change and the nature emergency are included in the consultation. We will use what residents tell us to shape future climate action in Moss Side.
    • We will develop funding bids for parks and green spaces. Our goal is to secure funding to improve at least three green spaces in the ward.
