  5. Description

Support available for women from Global Majority communities

This Work Club offers a structured and supportive programme for women from Global Majority communities.

The programme helps women move towards:

    • employment
    • education or training
    • volunteering
    • self‑employment

Support is flexible and built around individual goals.

Women start by meeting the team for a short assessment.
    This helps us understand:

    • what support is needed
    • what each woman wants to achieve
    • the best pathway to take part

Multi‑lingual volunteers are available to support women who need help with language.

    Weekly activities and classes

The programme offers weekly activities during school hours, where possible.

    Activities include:

    • ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
    • employability workshops
    • enterprise and self‑employment workshops
    • self‑care and well‑being sessions
    • sewing skills classes
    • a walking group

These sessions are designed to be welcoming, supportive, and confidence‑building.

    What the programme helps improve

    The programme supports women to:

    • build confidence and motivation
    • improve mental wellbeing and resilience
    • reduce loneliness and isolation
    • build employability skills, such as interview practice
    • improve digital skills
    • develop English speaking, listening, reading, and writing
    • understand UK systems, such as work and services
    • learn budgeting and money‑management skills
    • move into volunteering, training, or work

    Monitoring progress and outcomes

We record progress to understand impact and improve support.

    This includes tracking:

    • attendances and numbers supported
    • sessions delivered
    • qualifications achieved
    • CVs created
    • jobs gained
    • volunteering roles taken up
    • progression into further education or training
    • women starting or testing self‑employment

    Who the Work Club supports

This Work Club specialises in supporting:

    • women from South Asian communities
    • women from Middle Eastern communities, including Iranian women

We understand that childcare can be a barrier, so many sessions run during school hours.
