The work at the junction at Broadway and Moston Lane East is now complete, bringing much needed safety improvements to this crossing point.
The project has made this busy junction safer for pedestrians through the creation of:
- Improved, widened footways
- New controlled traffic signals at each arm of the junction
- A new pedestrian refuge island on the northeastern arm of the junction
- The relocation of two bus stops further back from the junction entrance on both sides of Moston Lane East
- New Double Yellow Lines to prevent parking on the corners of the junction and on the approach to the junction. This is to stop issues with parked vehicles blocking line of sight
- A new uncontrolled crossing point across the entrance to the row of shops on the southeast corner of the junction
- New bollards to prevent pavement parking on three corners of the junction
- Roadway resurfacing
- Cycle awareness symbols
Thanks to this work, local residents and school children can now cross the junction much more safely using controlled crossings. The new parking restrictions and bollards help keep the area clear, giving both pedestrians and drivers a better view of the road without parked vehicles blocking their sight.
