Notice of election to fill a casual vacancy in the office of councillor for the Burnage ward

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT:
1.
An election is to be held of a Councillor for the Burnage Ward.
2.
Nomination papers are to be delivered to the Returning Officer, Room 7, Ground Floor, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA, between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm during the period beginning Thursday 6 August 2026 and ending Thursday 13 August 2026 (excluding weekends and bank/public holidays). Nomination papers may also be obtained from that place and during those times. Access will be via the Facilities Management office, Town Hall Extension, Lloyd Street, Manchester M60 2LA.
3.
If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 10 September 2026.

Applications to be included in the register of electors must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Monday 24 August 2026, if they are to be effective for the election. Applications may be made via the online registration service at: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or sent directly to the Electoral Registration Officer at the Electoral Services Unit, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA.
5.
Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 2 September 2026. Applications can be made online at: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
6.
All applications and notices in respect of postal voting, and those in respect of changes to (including cancellation of) existing proxy voting arrangements, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Electoral Services Unit, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA by 5:00 pm on Tuesday 25 August 2026, if they are to be effective for the election.
7.
All new applications to vote by proxy (except those applied for on relevant emergency grounds) must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Electoral Services Unit, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA by 5:00 pm on Wednesday 2 September 2026, if they are to be effective for the election.
8.
All applications to vote by proxy on relevant emergency grounds (disability occurring after 5:00 pm on Wednesday 2 September 2026; grounds relating to the applicant’s occupation, service or employment, where the applicant became aware of those grounds after 5:00 pm on Wednesday 2 September 2026; detention under civil powers as a mental health patient; or grounds relating to voter identification) must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Electoral Services Unit, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA by 5:00 pm on Thursday 10 September 2026, if they are to be effective for the election.
