It is the vehicle owner who is responsible for renewing the vehicle licence.
All renewal applications must be made and payment received 10 working days prior to the date of expiry of the licence, it is your responsibility to ensure your licence does not expire. Your licence is at risk if you do not renew prior to the date of expiry; a new application will need to be submitted if your licence has expired (*except in the case of hackney carriage vehicle proprietor licence).
*A new application for a hackney carriage vehicle proprietor licence cannot be submitted - your licence is at risk if you do not renew it before the date of expiry, this also applies if you are replacing the vehicle.
You are renewing your vehicle - it must comply with the Manchester conditions of fitness.
Application and guidance notes
You can now renew your vehicle online under three categories:
- no changes
- change of address
- replacement vehicle
Once you have started the application process your application will not be saved unless you complete it. If you do not complete your application, or use the browsers navigation buttons instead of the 'Previous' button, your application will be lost and you will need to start again.
The following information will be requested as part of your application so have this ready before you start:
- Your Arcus licence number. This is Mandatory and will begin LC
- Current Phone number. This is Mandatory.
- Vehicle Reg no. This is Mandatory.
- IVA certificate if the vehicle is imported or modified.
- CCTV form, if applicable.
- Finance company details if applicable.
- Your desired operator name.
- V5 as digital file (or dealership invoice with the VIN and Engine number on it if you are also replacing your vehicle).
- Insurance certificate as digital file.
Payment must be made online as part of the application process. Your application will not be processed until payment is made.
