Work, jobs, training and advice North Manchester Social Benefits Brokerage Service

A step by step guide

Background

North Manchester is seeing major developments in housing, health infrastructure, transport and leisure, and the Council is working with developers, contractors and the North Manchester Business Network to maximise the social benefits for local people and organisations.

The North Manchester Social Benefits Brokerage Service has been set up to match organisations that need support (Asks) with those that might be able to provide it (Offers). Anyone can use this free service, as long as their Asks and Offers meet the priorities set out in the North Manchester Social Benefits Framework (NMSBF).

How it works

To use the service you need to complete a short application form.
If you have an Ask and an Offer you need to submit separate applications.

By submitting an application you are giving us consent to share your information and details with an assessment panel and organisations that may be interested in your Ask or Offer.

Tips for completing your application:

  • Tell us about your organisation and what you do in North Manchester (max 100 words)
  • Describe your Ask or Offer (why, what, for whom / how many, where, when, possible risks. If you have an Ask, also explain what your own contribution will be (max 200 words)
  • If your Ask or Offer is time specific, let us know so we can get back to you before the cut off date
  • Describe the impact you expect your Ask or Offer to have (max 50 words)

What happens next

  • A panel comprising the Council, development partners and community representatives will assess applications on community reach and benefits, affordability and deliverability, ensuring that all priorities of the North Manchester Social Benefits Framework are met.
  • You may be asked for additional information or to make changes to your application.
  • The panel will share details of successful applications with organisations that may be interested in your Ask or Offer.
  • We'll also get in touch with all unsuccessful applicants to let them know.

If matches are found

  • Once the panel has received one or more expressions of interest, the panel will make introductions.
  • The applicant and the interested party/parties discuss their Ask and Offer and agree if and how to move forward. They will then inform the panel.
  • If the match is successful, the support will be delivered and you will inform the panel once it has been completed
  • You will then be asked to submit a short report including any images, stories or quotes you'd like to share.

If no matches are found

  • If no expressions of interest are received, or no matches could be made, the panel will continue to look for matches for six months.
  • After three months we'll contact you to see if the Ask / Offer is still valid, has changed or can be removed.
