The Lord Mayor in chains

The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Mark Hackett swapped his chains of office for chains of slavery at the meeting of the full council on Wednesday 13 October 2010. The dramatic gesture was in recognition of all modern day slaves and to mark the first ever UK Anti-Slavery Day, on 18 October 2010.
