About the Bereavement Services Team
The Bereavement Services Team manage and maintain the Council's five cemeteries and Blackley Crematorium, handling over 3,000 burial and cremation services each year.
- Blackley Cemetery and Crematorium
- Southern Cemetery
- Gorton Cemetery
- Philips Park Cemetery
- Manchester General Cemetery
We maintain over 1.4 million square metres of green space, keep cemetery grounds clean, attractive, and make sure that chapels and gardens of remembrance provide a peaceful and reflective environment.
We work in partnership with funeral directors to organise and deliver funerals; and provide valuable guidance and advice to help the bereaved. Losing is always hard for everyone close to the deceased, and this can be made worse by having to make difficult choices and comply with confusing legal requirements at what can be an emotionally challenging time.
To help people decide the level of service that best suits their needs, we offer a variety of all-inclusive plans, from the simple to the most comprehensive. They also offer a range of memorial plans and as the only UK local authority to employ a stonemason dedicated to memorials, are able to provide a personalised service designed to meet individual requirements.
Bereavement Services has simplified the planning of burials and cremations and produced a variety of plans designed to meet a wide range of varied personal and financial requirements.
Our offices Blackley Cemetery and Crematorium or Southern Cemetery are available to discuss your wishes and offer any help you may need.
