Manchester Art Gallery houses the city's world class art collection in spectacular Victorian and contemporary surroundings. Highlights of our collection include our outstanding Pre-Raphaelite paintings, craft and design and early twentieth century British art. An exciting special exhibitions programme brings the best in visual art and design to Manchester . 

Manchester Art Gallery is known nation-wide for its audience focused approach and warm welcome, and attracts over 400,000 visitors each year. As well as wonderful art, the gallery offers excellent facilities including a new waiter-service restaurant and a relaxed cafe, a popular shop and full disabled access throughout.

The gallery also runs a wide range of events, many of them free, from talks and tours to hands-on workshops and activities for both children and adults. There are audio described tours, events and activities, as well as events and tours in British Sign Language and sign supported English.

Families are very welcome at Manchester Art Gallery . They can enjoy a programme of special events and a variety of activities including a mix of real art and hands-on activities in the Clore Interactive Gallery (currently closed for essential refurbishment until January 2010), family trail activity packs, story bags. High chairs, baby-bottle warmers, baby food and baby changing facilities are available.

Manchester Art Gallery has a Friends membership scheme, which allows art lovers to get more involved with the gallery, attend special events, and meet some of the country's top curators and artists.

Entrance to the gallery is free.
