Urban countryside volunteers
Numerous volunteers and volunteer groups play a vital and very inspirational role in the management and improvement of Manchester's urban countryside sites.
Friends groups - dedicated resident groups who volunteer their time, energy and effort to care for and improve their local urban countryside site include the Friends of Chorlton Meadows, Chorlton Water Park, Clayton Vale, Highfield Country Park and St. Michaels' Flags and Angel Meadows.
Hands on volunteer organisations - volunteers from The Conservation Volunteers - undertake projects including boardwalk construction, step repairs, woodland thinning, hedge laying and path clearance works.
