Groundwork Greater Manchester are running a number of employment courses relating to Green careers.  You can find out more about Groundwork 

Higher level technical skills - There are several higher education options in Manchester who offer courses related to the green economy. Manchester Metropolitan University, The University of Manchester and UCEN who all offer Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), as well as other green sector related courses. There are also Higher Education sites across GM that offer higher level courses linked to the green economy. 

Higher level and degree apprenticeships - Apprenticeships have become a popular choice for employers and people in Manchester in the green sector. People of any working age can become an apprentice and learn the skills while earning a wage. The Green Apprenticeship Advisory Panel has information about green apprenticeship standards. Information for young people

Apprenticeships 

Apprenticeships are a great way to learn new skills that employers are looking for and earn money at the same time. Check Apprenticeships - GMACS to find out more about Apprenticeships or start your apprenticeship journey by searching for vacancies.

Traineeships 

A traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work or an apprenticeship. It can last from 6 weeks up to 1 year, though most traineeships last for less than 6 months. They can also support to improve your English, maths and digital skills if you need it. They involve sector focused learning that can help prepare you for your apprenticeship or job and recognition of your learning. Find a traineeship

T Levels 

T Levels are a 2-year technical qualification designed to give you a head start towards the career you want. They have been developed to give you a new choice after GCSEs.  Find out more about T Levels for students

You can learn the skills for the construction industry through existing trade or professional routes and choosing emerging modules and short courses to develop additional specific retrofit skills and knowledge.   

The Manchester College offer the following T Levels related to the green economy: 

  • Building Services Engineering for Construction 
  • Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing (Electrical and Electronic Engineering)
