Free and cheap ways to get online

Services to get residents Manchester online are available through libraries and external services.

Libraries

Libraries can help you to get online for free. You can use their computers or your own device. Find out more about getting online at your local library.

Internet access

If you cannot afford access to internet, you can collect a free SIM card from a Databank through the Good Things Foundation (Find Local Digital Inclusion Support | Good Things Foundation) or you can go to your nearest O2 shop and ask for help there (National Databank | Free Mobile Data, Minutes & Calls)

Computers

We have partnered with Community Computers. They refurb devices and sell them at low prices. You can get a laptop or desktop computer from around £60. That's with MS Office, antivirus software and a 12-month warranty. Find out more at www.shop.community.computers.co.uk.

Digital skills

If you want to improve your digital skills or get help with a technical issue, there are free classes and drop-ins. Check our directory to find free digital services in your area.

Manchester Adult Education digital skills courses can provide more in-depth training. They're in-person with classroom-based learning. Find out more at www.manadulted.org.uk/courses/digital.

Cheaper broadband and phone

People claiming benefits can get cheaper broadband and phone packages. Go to Ofcom's page on social tariffs.
