Register of Disabled Children and Young People

What is the Register for/ why should I sign up?

The Register is a database of children and young people aged 0-19 years with disabilities or special educational needs. The Register aims to improve access and take up of services, and identify gaps in provision. The information you provide is important as it will be used to assist in the planning, monitoring and development of services for disabled children and their families in Manchester.

If you indicate that you are happy for information to be sent to you, we will be able to keep you up-to-date with developments relating to services for disabled children and young people in Manchester.

What happens to the information

The information you give us will be held securely by the Local Authority until the child turns 19, then it will be archived. Please also refer to the Privacy Notice on the form.

If you decide at a later date that you would like your details removed from the Register, you can do so by emailing engagement@manchester.gov.uk Your details will be removed within 30 days.

How do I put my child's details on the database?

Registration is to be completed by, or on behalf of the child or young person who has a disability (for example, a parent or carer could complete the form). A separate form will need to be completed for each child in the family who is disabled.
