Wraparound Childcare expansion programme

The Wraparound Childcare programme was announced in the Spring Budget 2023. The goal is that by 2026, all parents of primary school children who need it can access childcare from 8 am to 6 pm during term time in their local area. This will help parents work and improve job opportunities.

The government is investing £289 million in this programme. Manchester City Council has received £3,027,729.97 of this amount.

There is also extra funding through the childcare expansion capital grant. A total of £100 million is available for local authorities to support:

  • 30 hour entitlement places for children aged 9 months to 3 years.
  • Wraparound childcare for primary school-aged children.

Manchester City Council is using £198,015 of its allocation to expand wraparound childcare places.
