Pre-packed for Direct Sale (PPDS) food labelling requirements

Pre-packed for direct sale or PPDS is food which is made and packaged on the same site it is then offered or sold to consumers and is in this packaging before it is ordered or selected.

For example, a sandwich shop where the sandwiches are made and packaged on site and then offered for sale to customers from a display unit or from the counter. It would also apply to sandwiches offered from a mobile unit if this belongs to the same operator. 

All pre-packed for direct sale food must be labelled with the 

  • Product name
  • Full ingredients list 
  • Allergens emphasised on the ingredients list
