Planning and regeneration Gorton hub

What is it?

The Gorton Hub is a brand new learning, health and community hub that brings together a range of different services under the same roof. This allows people to access different support networks much more easily, while also creating new community space, in a modern and low carbon building. 

Services on offer include: 

  • Library – a warm and friendly space with books, ICT and community activities such as Storytime and Age Friendly hour
  • Jobcentre Plus - resources to enable job-searchers to find work, provides information about training opportunities and administers claims for benefits such as Universal Credit.
  • Manchester Adult Education Services (MAES): Adult Education courses in English, Maths, ESOL and ICT
  • One Manchester - employment, skills, literacy, digital support, and enterprise services for One Manchester residents (opening date to be confirmed).
  • Gorton Medical Centre - a modern and well-equipped General Practice
  • Manchester Local Care Organisation - community based health care and clinics including Health Visitors, district nursing, podiatry and physiotherapy, plus a new integrated health and social care team working together to meet the needs of the local community.
  • Café (opening date to be confirmed).
  • Pharmacy (opening date to be confirmed).

The building opened in November 2022.

  • The library, Manchester Adult Education Service, the Neighbourhood health and social care team, and Jobcentre Plus are all operating form the site.
  • Further services that will be moving into the Hub will include the GP practice, One Manchester, a pharmacy and a cafe. Dates to be confirmed. 

The Hub itself will be open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on Saturdays, but there are a range of services with varied opening times.  Please contact the individual services to check specific opening hours.

The Hub will be closed to the public on Bank Holidays. 

Bikes, scooters and skateboards are not allowed in the Hub, with the exception of wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Dogs are not allowed in the Hub, with the exception of guide dogs and support dogs.

Where is it?

The hub is on Hyde Road at the junction with Whitewell Way. The address is Gorton Hub, 27 Garratt Way, M18 8HE.

Construction is well underway, and the hub is planned to open in the late Autumn.
