Parks, leisure and the arts Blackley Vale

A former landfill site which was reclaimed and landscaped in the early 1980's the site offers a tranquil walk along the River Irk.

Location and Access:

Blackley Vale is situated half way along Blackley New Road. There is a surfaced footpath down to the River Irk which extends along the river-side.

The Bowker Vale tram stop on the route to Bury is a five minute walk from the site.

Crossing the footbridge over the River Irk following the footpath and you will access the Crumpsall area at Dinorwic Close.

Recreation and Usage:

  • The wood is ideal for walking and dog walking, where you will find a peaceful haven away from the bustle of city life.
  • Relax and admire the view of the gently trickling River Irk.
