Community and off-site registrations
We have made our service more accessible for those who wish to register births and deaths in areas local to them, and avoid the journey into the centre of Manchester.
Birth registration
We provide the services of a registrar for registering births:
- at Sure Start Centres: Benchill, Moston, Rusholme, Longsight, Gorton (Sacred Heart), Cheetham (Woodville) and Clayton on a weekly basis. Please note only Manchester residents that have had their baby in Manchester are able to register a birth at a Surestart Centre
- at designated prisons as and when required.

Special arrangements have been made with Trafford, Bury, Salford and Rochdale to allow their residents, whose babies are born in a Manchester hospital, to register the birth at their local Register Office and still receive the certificate on the same day.
