Woodland Walks
Explore and experience the beauty of our woodlands. In spring, observe the trees and other life awakening, in summer discover the variety of living things. In autumn find and collect ‘nature’s treasures’ and in winter join in with tree planting and other conservation activities.
Homes and Habitats
Become a Nature detective and go on a discovery trail with the wardens to look for clues that will tell you where the wild things are. Find out what they like to eat, where they like to rest, and then make informed predictions about what creatures you will find in other places.
History Trail
Over the past 200 years many people have left their stamp on the Heaton Park Estate. Walk around the historic core to look at landscape and buildings and discover connections between the park’s past and present.
Wildlife Walk
The Wardens will take you on a gentle walk through the park’s varying landscape to observe the variety of plants, birds, mammals, and minibeasts that make it their home.
Farm Tour
The Animal Centre has a splendid collection of livestock and knowledgeable staff who care for them. The Wardens and livestock team will introduce the animals and talk about their life-cycles, care and seasonal husbandry. An opportunity for you to get a close up behind–the-scenes look at farm and pet animals.
