"Our leisure facilities will reopen to the public on Wednesday 2 December and we will provide further details as soon as guidance is issued to us by government.
"We welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement that there will be more opportunities for grassroots sport and activities to take place from next week, with leisure facilities able to open for the benefit of local communities.
"We note that organised sport and physical activity will be returning under all tiers, after the current national restrictions come to an end. Organised activity for elite athletes, under 18s and disabled people can also take place across every tier.
"Gyms will reopen across the country and there was also positive news about the return of spectators in some areas. We anticipate further specific guidance for contact activities.
"Sport and leisure opportunities are essential to support the mental and physical wellbeing of our citizens and we will do everything we can to help as many Mancunians as possible to participate in their chosen activity, in a Covid-safe way."
