Latest update - October 2025
This scheme is designed to protect the parking needs of residents, businesses and community organisations.
It also aims to ease traffic and make roads safer in areas which currently have a lot of on-street parking. We've reviewed the consultation results and the Traffic Regulation Order process is complete. We are now moving forward with the proposals as consulted.
October / November 2025 – getting things ready on street
From late October, we will begin installing signs and painting lines and parking bays across the area. We expect this to be completed by December 2025.
Keeping roads clear during works
To help us complete the work, we will be asking for vehicles to be moved from areas scheduled for road marking. You’ll receive a letter in advance letting you know when work is planned for your street.
Bad weather does sometimes change plans, but please bear with us – we'll get it done as quickly as we can.
- Most work will just involve putting signs up on the pavement.
- In areas where lines or bays are being painted, we’ll need it to be clear of cars.
- Traffic cones will be put on affected streets to show where we’ll be working. Please help us to keep these areas clear of vehicles.
- Temporary safety barriers will be put up where we are installing a new pole. These will be removed once the work is complete.
If vehicles are not moved, we’ll put a flyer on the vehicle as a reminder. If the vehicle remains in place, it may have to be lifted and relocated to allow the work to proceed.
Start date
The planned start date for the scheme will be February 2026. You will receive information about how to apply shortly, and there will be plenty of time to apply.
