What is the Best of Manchester?

Manchester is full of really good people. But the good they do is easy to miss. Because they don’t make a fuss - they just get on with it.

Yet they really are everywhere in our city. On every Manchester street and in every neighbourhood:

• the ones who show up for others, or,
• the everyday, consistent supporters of our communities, or,
• those who freely give their time, energy and compassion.

They put others first. They embody the values that make our city stand out. They do us proud. Yet they expect nothing in return.

Why you should nominate

Manchester would not work without these everyday people, quietly doing what they do.

They don’t expect a stage - but now you can give them the recognition they deserve.

These awards are a heartfelt 'thank you' from the whole city to those who make Manchester better - helping it run smoother, feel kinder and be more connected.

What happens when you nominate?

The Lord Mayor will be holding three celebration events in Manchester Town Hall Extension in September 2026.

The finalists from each category will be invited to the Best of Manchester Awards on Friday 23 October 2026 at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, Oxford Street.

So, if you know an individual, group or organisation that’s an example of what Manchester is all about, nominate them for the new Best of Manchester awards. They deserve it.
