Traffic management and working patterns

Phase 2 works

The traffic management for the ongoing work on Phase 2 of the Northeast Gateway scheme currently consists of:

  • Rochdale Road (between Goulden Street and Sudell Street) 15 September to winter 2025/26 - work consists of creating a permanent closure of Ludgate Hill (between Baptist Street and Rochdale Road), new protected cycleways, controlled pedestrian crossings, and resurfacing of the carriageway
  • Working patterns will be:

Monday to Friday: 8am to 5pm

Saturday: 8am to 4pm

Sunday: 9.30am to 3.30pm


March overnight closures for cycleway surfacing

Rochdale Road (between Goulden Street and Sudell Street)

  • 24 and 25 March 8pm to 5am
Thompson Street
  • 25 and 26 March 8pm to 5am

Oldham Road (between Livesey Street and Great Ancoats Street)

  • 26 and 27 March 8pm to 5am

During these closures, a fully signed diversion will be in place. Emergency access will be maintained at all times, and pedestrian access will be maintained.
