Summer Reading Challenge 2023
Join Ready, Set, Read! with Manchester Libraries
3 July to 16 September
You're invited to join our free Summer Reading Challenge Ready, Set, Read!
Launching in Libraries on 3 July, you’re invited to kick off your summer reading and see if you can read 6 books before 16 September. Join at your local library to receive your special collector folder and start reading books to earn your medal and certificate. You’ll be awarded your medal when you’ve read six, but why stop there?
Libraries also have lots of free activities for you to enjoy during the summer holidays too, which will be announced in July.
Check out what’s on offer on Loads to Do
Do you like being active and outdoors or do you want to be arty and creative (or both!) Perhaps you want to learn a new skill or try something brand new? You can do all this (and so much more!)
Mini Challenge
Children under 4 years old can also get involved too with their very own Mini Challenge. Ask at your local library or next time you’re at storytime.
What can I read?
You can read any library book you choose. Libraries are bursting with books that are free for you to borrow. You can also read digital eBooks and eAudiobooks using our free BorrowBox app.
You can join online too
If you can’t make it into a library, you can join online instead on The Reading Agency’s website. Remember to enter Manchester when asked for more information.
Grand Prize Draw
When you complete the Summer Reading Challenge, you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 toyshop voucher and a bundle of books! We’ll also have goody bag winners from each library. More prizes will be announced soon!
Book review competition
Why not tell us about that book you couldn't put down? You can either write or draw about the book. Four winners will each scoop a prize of a kindle or art supplies! More details will be revealed soon.
