    The service use your personal data for the following reasons:

    • maintaining our own accounts and records;
    • to undertake functions relating to migration including but not limited to; liaising with local authorities, charities and Non-Government Organisations to source appropriate accommodation and provide appropriate support;
    • to ensure health needs can be met in area of resettlement;
    • to ensure appropriate social care is provided;
    • to analyse geographical distribution of children, speakers of certain languages, nationality and religion, in order to assist local authorities in planning asylum services;
    • promoting the services we provide;
    • deriving statistics for asylum and resettlement in the North West which informs decisions on where resources in are targeted;
    • undertaking research;
    • to share information from stakeholders.

  4. What is the lawful basis we are relying on?

    We collect and use this information under the following provisions of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

    Article 6 basis

    • it is necessary to perform our public tasks (Art 6(1)(e));
    • it is necessary to protect someone in an emergency (Art 6(1)(d)).

    Article 9 basis

    • you, or your legal representative, have given explicit consent to this particular information being used (Art 9(2)(a));
    • it is necessary to deliver health or social care services (Art 9(2)(h);
    • it is necessary to protect someone in an emergency (Art 9(2)(c));

    Legal basis

    • Asylum and Immigration Act 1996;
    • Nationality, Asylum and Immigration Act 2002;
    • Asylum and Immigration (Treatment of Claimants etc.) Act 2004;
    • Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.

    The majority of personal information will be provided by you, however we will receive the information from other organisations such as:

    • International Organization for Migration
    • Home Office
    • Local Authorities within the North West
    • Partner organisations across public, private and third sectors working under Home Office Asylum and Resettlement schemes.
