Deposit a site cabin or storage container on the highway

  1. Summary

    A permit is required if you want to put a site cabin or storage container on the highway (road/pavement).

    Only apply for this permit from us if the location falls within the Manchester City Council boundaries. If you're not sure check which council the location falls under.

  2. Fees

    Total cost £253 each 28 days then re-apply.

    The inspection fee is £86 (applied to all applications) and a permit costs £167.

    Apply for permission to deposit a site cabin or storage container on the highway

  4. Attachments required

    • Public liability insurance, minimum cover £10million; and
    • A scale plan of the site showing the position of the structure/obstruction on the road/pavement.

    Applications should include Evidence of valid 'Public Liability' Insurance (not less than £10 million) and a scale plan of the site showing the position of the structure/obstruction on the highway/road. Both of these documents can be emailed to highwaylicences@manchester.gov.uk.

  5. Processing and timescales

    We'll contact you within 20 working days with either the permit (which must be laminated and displayed on site) or to let you know that we need to visit the site and discuss your proposal in more detail.

    The permit is valid for the period approved up to a maximum of 28 days.
