Private hire operator - standard

  1. Summary

    To operate private hire vehicles in Manchester, you must hold a private hire operator licence.

    A standard licence is granted to operators of standard private hire vehicles only. A standard saloon type private hire vehicle should be less than 7 years old when licensed, white or silver in colour and carry a maximum of 8 passengers.

    The vehicle should display yellow Council issued stickers. Please refer to the operator conditions.

  4. Attachments required

    A statutory declaration for each applicant (if a limited company a statutory declaration is needed for each director and company secretary); one recent colour passport photograph (no sunglasses or hat) with your full name and date of birth on the reverse; If a partnership or limited company full details of all key persons must be provided; A copy of planning permission for the base address;

  5. Processing and timescales

    We aim to process your application within 10 working days of receiving the application and all supporting documentation.

  6. Legislation

    Applicants should have no relevant convictions or been determined by the Licensing and Appeals Committee to be a fit and proper person.
