  1. Ward-specific objectives

    Nature and Biodiversity:

    • Improve one green space in Higher Blackley for nature by autumn 2025.
    • Run a community biodiversity study in Blackley Forest by the end of 2025.

    Young People:

    • Run two climate change workshops with the two Scout groups in Higher Blackley by the end of 2025.
    • Help one new school join the Eco-Schools programme by July 2025.

    Transport, Active Travel, Air Quality:

    • Run action days to raise awareness about parking and air pollution by July 2025:
      • One primary school.
      • One secondary school.
    • Support Walk Ride Blackley to run two cycling events by the end of 2025.

    Things We Buy, Use and Throw Away:

    • Help Blackley Community Centre run two clothes swap events by April 2026.
    • Organise an upcycling workshop at Higher Blackley Community Hub by summer 2025.

    Food:

    • Run two low-carbon cooking workshops at Higher Blackley Community Hub and Community Centre by April 2026.
    • Work with Mirfield Garden to create a Mirfield Cookbook by April 2026.

    Homes and Energy Efficiency:

    • Make sure all neighbourhood events include energy and debt advice by April 2026.
    • Share retrofit tips and the government’s retrofit website at all events by April 2026.

    Engagement, Raising Awareness, Influencing Change:

    • Fund at least two local climate projects through the Neighbourhood Investment Fund by April 2026.
    • Work with Plant Hill and Our Lady’s High Schools to run regular litter picks in areas with fly-tipping by summer 2025.
