  1. Ward-specific objectives

    Nature and Biodiversity:

    • Help Wallsden Street community garden plant flowers that support bees and butterflies by August 2025.
    • Work with Manchester College to build bird boxes and hang them in local green spaces by September 2025.

    Young People:

    • Support students at Seymour Road and St Clements Primary Schools to run climate action projects by the end of 2025.
    • Give a climate change assembly at Higher Openshaw Community Primary School by the end of 2025.
    • Help at least one school join the Eco-Schools programme by July 2025.

    Transport, Active Travel, Air Quality:

    • Run a parking event at Higher Openshaw Community Primary School to promote clean air and active travel by the end of 2025.
    • Deliver two cycling sessions in local schools by the end of 2025.

    Things We Buy, Use and Bin:

    • Bring the Refill campaign to Clayton and Openshaw to cut down on single-use plastics. Sign up at least 15 new businesses by the end of 2025.
    • Invite Biffa to all Neighbourhood events with their recycling games by April 2026.

    Food:

    • Help Eden Gardens donate extra food to the Beacon Centre food bank by April 2026.
    • Run a Cook and Taste session at a community centre by the end of 2025.

    Homes and Energy:

    • Make sure all Neighbourhood Events include energy and debt advice by April 2026.
    • Share retrofit tips and the government’s retrofit website at all events by April 2026.

    Engagement, Raising Awareness, Influencing Change:

    • Fund at least two local climate projects through the Neighbourhood Investment Fund by April 2026.
    • Make sure all community venues in the ward have climate information and resources by April 2026.
