  1. Ward-specific objectives

    Nature and Biodiversity:

    • Spend £70,000 on planting trees in Cheetham by the end of 2025.
    • Run two bird or bat box workshops. Put the boxes on local trees by the end of 2025:
      • One in a school or youth group.
      • One in a community venue.

    Young People:

    • Run one climate change workshop for young people by July 2025.
    • Give 50 young people reusable, recycled zero-carbon packs by the end of the 2024–25 school year.
    • Help one new school join the Eco-Schools programme by July 2025.

    Transport, Active Travel, Air Quality:

    • Run one community cycling event in Cheetham by summer 2025.
    • Make sure the Active Streets event includes a Dr Bike session by April 2025.

    Things We Buy, Use and Bin:

    • Help one community venue set up a recycling system for hard-to-recycle plastics by summer 2025.

    Food:

    • Connect a local community garden with a school or youth group to teach food growing by summer 2025.
    • Help one new community venue start recycling green waste with the right tools and info by summer 2025.

    Homes and Energy:

    • Make sure all Neighbourhood Events include energy and debt advice by April 2026.
    • Share retrofit tips and the government’s retrofit website at all events by April 2026.

    Engagement, Raising Awareness, Influencing Change:

    • Fund at least two local climate projects through the Neighbourhood Investment Fund by April 2026.
    • Include climate change news, tips, and local events in every issue of the We Love Cheetham and Crumpsall newsletter.
