  1. What's happening

    Road safety school signs

    Road safety signs have been installed around the following schools to improve safety during pick-up and drop-off times:

    • Newall Green Primary – 2 signs
    • Baguley Hall Primary – 4 signs
    • St. Peter's Primary – 3 signs

    This project aims to improve school safety for children and parents during busy times of the day.

    Newall Road/Kerry Walk – additional timber fencing

    Additional timber fencing has been installed along Newall Road and Kerry Walk to improve safety and security in the area.

    Milky Button Park – bases for picnic benches

    New bases are being prepared for picnic benches at Milky Button Park. We're also installing new litter bins, a wheelchair carousel, a new set of swings (two flats plus a nest), and safety resurfacing. This is part of the ongoing effort to improve local parks and green spaces.

    Other projects

    • We're improving drainage at Crowland Pond.
    • We're improving access at Crowland Pond, including drainage works, removing steps, adding benches and a picnic area, and laying tarmac around the pond.
    • We're installing nine age-friendly benches to form a route following consultation with local residents and Wythenshawe Good Neighbours. Locations include Altrincham Road (near supermarkets and a pharmacy), Hall Lane (near Baguley Hall, NHS Surgery, and a junction), Greenbrow Road (near Tree of Life Centre), Wastdale Road (within the grounds of Johannesburg Gardens), and Greenbrow Road/Tuffley Road/Simonsway (near a convenience store).
    • We're constructing new permanent bases for NIF picnic benches in the park on Whitburn Road.
    • We're installing 'Bee' bollards and a wooden kickrail on the odd-numbered side of Whitburn Road to prevent parking on the grass verges between 1 and 31 on Thornby Walk.
    • We're repairing broken soak away drains within Baguley Park that are causing flooding issues.
    • We're including a replacement nest swing in the play equipment at Baguley Park.
    • We're installing an accessible carousel in the play equipment at Alderman Rogers Park.
    • We're adding double yellow lines on Hall Lane.
    • We're installing bollards on Tuffley Road.
    • We're planting bulbs, fruit trees, and bushes in Alderman Rogers Park and Milky Button Park with Sow the City.
    • We're making car parking improvements on Consett Avenue.
