  1. Clean, green and safer neighbourhoods make our city attractive. They help us feel better and safer where we live, work, study and visit.

    These are the projects that have been funded by the Clean and Green investment in your neighbourhood so far. The 'completed' projects were finished in 2024 and 2025. The 'in delivery' projects are scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

  2. What's happening

    Completed projects

    Burton Road – bins and benches

    Street bins and benches have been replaced to support a cleaner, more welcoming high street.

    Lapwing Lane Arcade – pedestrian safety

    New bollards have been installed outside the arcade to protect the footway.

    Ford Lane – 20mph signs and markings

    Speed limit signs and road markings have been installed to encourage safer driving.

    Bradley Fold Allotments

    Damaged fencing has been replaced and repairs carried out to footpaths, main entrance and woodland paths following flooding, improving safety and access for allotment holders.

    Bins

    All on-street bins across the ward have been replaced as part of the August 2024 to August 2025 programme, and park bins in disrepair have been scheduled for Cavendish Road Gardens. Find out more about bin installation and the efforts to fight litter.

    Projects in delivery

    Elm Road, Pine Road & Parkfield Road – traffic calming Traffic calming measures will be introduced to improve safety.

    Parking controls Upgraded restrictions will be introduced to increase road safety at:

    • Nell Lane/ Houseman Crescent junction
    • Georgia Avenue, Robert Harrison Avenue
    • Burton Road/Barlow Moor Road
    • Tintern Avenue/ Bottersford Avenue and Tinten Avenue/ Nell Lane
    • Churchwood Road/ Whitechapel
    • Arley Avenue/ Bottersford Avenue
    • Burton Road junctions with and adjoining streets (Walsingham Avenue, Leamington Avenue, Warwick Avenue, Stratford Avenue, Kenilworth Avenue, Orchard Street)
    • Lidgate Road and its junctions with Crossway, Churchwood Road and Eversle Road
    • Whitechapel Street and its junction with Churchwood Road
    • Northen Grove and junctions with Barlow Moor Road, Burton Road
    • The Beeches junction with Barlow Moor Road
    • Barlow Moor Road junctions with Rowsley Avenue, Winster Avenue, Stanton Avenue, Darley Avenue, Moorfield Road, Barlow Moor Court.
