Burnage

  1. Clean, green and safer neighbourhoods make our city attractive. They help us feel better and safer where we live, work, study and visit.

    These are the projects that have been funded by the Clean and Green investment in your neighbourhood so far. The 'completed' projects were finished in 2024 and 2025. The 'in delivery' projects are scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

    Completed projects

    Linden Park to Milwain Road – pathway resurfacing

    The pathway between Linden Park and Milwain Road was fully resurfaced in September 2024, creating a safer and more accessible walking route for residents.

    Lane End Road – new guard rails

    New guard rails were installed on Lane End Road in August 2024 to improve pedestrian safety and reduce the risk of accidents.

    Burnage Lane – Christmas light sockets

    Electrical sockets were installed along Burnage Lane in September 2024 to support the safe installation of Christmas lights during seasonal celebrations.

    Alma Park School – double yellow lines

    Double yellow lines have been introduced outside Alma Park School, supported by a Traffic Regulation Order, to improve visibility and safety during school drop‑off and pick‑up times.

    Avon Road and Firethorn Avenue – bee bollards

    ‘Bee’ bollards have been installed across Avon Road and Firethorn Avenue to prevent unsafe vehicle access and protect pavements.

    Burnage Lane – bee bollards (27 installed)

    'Bee’ bollards were installed along Burnage Lane in April 2024 to deter pavement parking and make the route safer for pedestrians.

    Errwood Road and Green End Road – noticeboard repairs

    Community noticeboards on Errwood Road and Green End Road have been repaired to improve communication and keep residents updated on local news and events.

    Errwood Road – kickrail repair and repainting

    The kickrail along Errwood Road was repaired and repainted in October 2025, to protect green spaces and improve the appearance of the area.

    Cringle Playing Fields – site perimeter

    Vehicle height barrier, bollards and large perimeter boulders have been installed to prevent unauthorised vehicle access and to protect the sports ground from damage and anti-social behaviour.

    Projects in delivery

    Bibby Lane – fencing replacement

    Fencing will be replaced along Bibby Lane to reduce antisocial behaviour and improve safety for nearby residents.

    Bins

    All on-street bins across the ward have been replaced as part of the August 2024 to August 2025 programme, and park bins in disrepair will be replaced in Burnage Country Park. Find out more about bin installation and the efforts to fight litter.
