AJ Bell Great Manchester Run
Manchester's original running event is back bigger & better than ever on Sunday 26 May, with a brilliant city centre 10k and half marathon.
With 30,000 runners, 150,000 spectators, and millions watching at home it’s set to be another fantastic celebration, showcasing the city at it’s very best. If you’ve been one of those spectators, or always watched it on the TV, make this year your year – the 10k and half marathon events are for everyone, of all ages and abilities, even if you’re just beginning your running journey.
The famous 10k and half marathon will follow the same popular route as previous years, starting and finishing in the heart of the city. Both distances take in iconic city landmarks including Old Trafford, the Imperial War Museum at Salford Quays and The Lowry – meanwhile half marathon runners make up the miles heading out to the Etihad before the routes combine for a grandstand finish on Deansgate.
The kids take centre stage the day before for the AJ Bell Junior and Mini Great Manchester Run, on Saturday, 25 May. The kids’ events are for ages 3-16 and offer high-energy fun from beginning to end, crazy costumes, lots of high fives and a very special finisher’s medal. Our Mini runners (aged 3-8) take on a fun and frenzied 1.6km dash, whilst our Junior runners (aged 9-15) take on a 2.5km challenge.
From the rocking music zones to the charity cheering squads, and the amazing people of Manchester lining the streets, the atmosphere and spirit is Manchester through and through.
