Homes and property Help with Empty homes

Can I get information about how to buy empty properties in Manchester?

If you want to buy an empty home in Manchester, you can sign up for our investors register. It's free to join and you will be notified of any empty properties that may be of interest. We send alerts for each property as soon as we have consent from the owner to share the information. We don't have a live catalogue of properties ready for purchase.

To join the register, email: emptyhomesteam@manchester.gov.uk.

You'll receive an automated email with instructions of how to sign up and a link to the registration form.

How it works:

  1. The Empty Homes Team will send an alert with the initial property details. Investors who wish to view a property can then register their interest on the link in the alert
  2. The Empty Homes Team will then arrange viewings/open days with the owner
  3. Details for the open house viewings will be sent to the interested investors. Investors will also be informed of the dates of the window during which time offers can be submitted.
  4. Open house viewings are conducted.
  5. Offers are submitted by an online form which will be sent via email after the open house has concluded. The email will also advise the date the offer window closes.
  6. Once the offer window ends, all offers will be compiled. They're then passed on to the owner for their consideration. The owner will choose whether to accept an offer. They can contact investors directly to discuss/negotiate individually.

Please note that we are not a party to any sale or transaction nor will we partake in any negotiations. It is the responsibility of the owner and purchaser to ensure due diligence is paid. It is down to the purchaser to verify the condition of the property and the required renovations. The purchaser will need to ensure any works completed comply with building regulations. And to have any appropriate planning permission in place.
