The Building Safety Act 2022 was created to make buildings, especially high-rise residential buildings, safer for people to live in.
It was introduced after the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017, which exposed serious problems in building safety. In March 2025 the Government launched the residents' building safety website which aims to help everybody affected by the change.
